Twisted Metal multiplayer to go offline briefly today

Sony will take down Twisted Metal’s online multiplayer servers for around 15 minutes today in order to pursue a connectivity issue.

“Sony is or will be in next hour pulling servers for 15 min to push a fix that will correctly message if the reason you can not get in a game is legit OR if the room is just full,” Eat Sleep Play boss David Jaffe tweeted.

“Right now [the] bug – that this will fix – is giving out [the] same message. Once this is resolved, in the next hour, that will let Sony then see an accurate failure rate of connect.

“Without this, [it's] very hard for us to know when it’s a full Room issue vs. a genuine ‘can not connect’ issue.”

The developer added that Eat Sleep Play ‘totally knows’ there is a genuine connection error, but is not certain of its scope.

“Thanks for sticking it out with us – Twisted fans are not only bad ass sick fucks, they are also – mostly!- understanding gamers who have every right to fucking hate us right now…so thank you!” he added.

Jaffe himself will be online today checking out the game’s stability.

“My copy’s not sent from Sony yet so I bought my own – gonna go home, play and see what network issues are as of 4:05 Pacific time,” he said.

Twisted Metal is a PlayStation 3 exclusive available now in the US, with a European release set for March 7.
