After a delay caused by an unexpectedly long session in quality assurance, the Twisted Metal patch is approaching release.
The patch had been expected earlier in the week, but Eat Sleep play boss David Jaffe said in a video update on his blog that it’s now likely to release on Friday afternoon, between 3:00 and 4:00 PM, in an unspecified US timezone – although he admitted it could be later, or even earlier.
Jaffe confirmed the patch is finished and had cleared quality assurance; he said it is now in Format and seemed to imply it must go through a third stage before release. He said his team members had expressed confidence that the new patch would resolve the worst of the network connection issues which have dogged the game since launch.
The developer seemed resigned to the testing process, but frustrated that ongoing network issues have kept Eat Sleep Play from addressing more positive fixes for the game.
“There’s gameplay tuning stuff and balance that I’m just desperate to get to,” he said.
“I thought by now we’d be on gameplay patch four, and we’re not, and again I apologise for that. I wish this wasn’t taking so long. I imagine people who paid good money for the game wish that too.”
